Biography

Hasmik Torosyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia. She has graduated from the Romanos Melikyan Musical College in 2004 and, later in 2010 the Komitas State Conservatory. Hasmik won several competitions in 2004 and 2006 including Special Prizes in the Republican Competitions after T. Shahnazaryan and T. Sazandaryan.

In 2008 she won the First Prize and the Gold Medal in the Republican Competition after G. Gasparyan. In 2009 she won the President’s Prize for Young Singers of Armenia, in 2010 the First Prize in the “Bella Voce” International Music Competition in Moscow, Russia and became the finalist of the 6th Seoul International Music Competition in Seoul, South Korea (2010). In 2011 Hasmik won the First Prize in the “Musica Sacra” International Music Competition in Rome, Italy.

Hasmik Torosyan recently performs in France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Finland, Grate Britain, USA, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, South Korea, Russia, Lebanon, Turkey with different concert projects.

From 2011 Hasmik is the principal soloist of Armenian National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater A.Spendiaryan. Her repertoire includes Ilia in Idomeneo, Queen of the night in The magic flute, Musetta in La BohèmeLauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Lisette in La Rondine, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Fanny in La cambiale di matrimonio, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Norina in Don Pasquale, Corinna and Comtesse di Folleville in Il viaggio a Reims, Violetta in La Traviata, Nedda in Pagliacci, Anush in Anush by A.Tigranyan and other roles. Her repertoire includes Eastern sacred music as well. Mozart’s C-moll Mess, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Mess C-Dur, Haydn’s Nelson Mess, Mansuryan’s Requiem.

In 2012 she was invited to sing Nedda in the Northern Lights International Music Festival production of Pagliacci by Leoncavallo (USA). During 2008-2012 Hasmik did participate in several International Master Classes of Grace Bumbry, Teresa Berganza, Mirella Freni and Juan Diego Florez.

Hasmik’s contact with the operatic life in the UK commenced in 2013, when Glyndebourne Opera House offered her the cover for the role of Norina in Don Pasquale during the Glyndebourne Festival, followed up by the cover for the role of Adina in L’elisir d’amore on the Glyndebourne Tour. She sang for a show as Adina at Glyndebourne itself.

In 2014 Hasmik Torosyan was invited to study in Accademia Rossiniana directed by Maestro A. Zedda. She made her italian debut in Rossini Opera House with role of Corinna in Il Viaggio a Reims by G. Rossini. In 2015 Hasmik was invited to sing the role of Lisetta in ROF (Rossini Opera Festival , Pesaro- Italy) in opera La Gazzetta.

In 2015 Hasmik Torosyan made her debut with National Orchestra of Paris conductor Michail Jurowski, with role of Marfa in Tsar’s Bright Korsakov. Hasmik Torosyan works recently with Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra (cond. E. Topchyan) and in 2016 she made her debut as Gilda in Rigoletto with the some Orchestra.

In 2015-2016 she made her debut in Flamish Opera House with role of Musetta in La Bohème and Ilia in Idomeneo, and later on for the season 2016-2017 she made her debut as Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute (Antwerp-Belgium).

In 2017 Hasmik Torosyan made her operatic and role debut in Teatro Comunale di Bologna with role of Fiorilla in Il Turco in Italia. Also she performed in Boston Symphony Hall within a recital conducted by Lockhalt.

In 2018 she made her german debut in Hamburg Opera House (as Donna Fiorilla in Il turco in Italia by Rossini). In the same year Hasmik Torosyan made two more beautiful role debuts: Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in Verona and Marie in La Fille du régiment conducted by Y. Abel in the theater Comunale di Bologna. Later on she was Musetta, in the same theater, in G. Vick’s (La Bohème) production conducted by M. Mariotti.

In 2019 after her successful debut in Turin, at the Teatro Regio (as Amina in La Sonnambula) she was invited for the opening season of the Teatro Regio 2019/2022 with role of Leila in Les pêcheurs de perles by Bizet. In the same year she performed in Japan in the New National Tokyo Theater (as Norina in Don Pasquale) and in Italy in Salerno (Musetta in La Bohème) conducted by D. Oren.

In 2020 she was in Brussels and Paris (at the theater Champs-Élysées) performing in La petite messe solennelle by Rossini.

In 2021 she was in Parma performing Carmina Burana, then in Turin as Musetta in La Bohème conducted by D.Oren. In 2021 she was back to Salerno as Gilda in Rigoletto by Verdi, conducted by D. Oren. Then she took part at the opening concert of th 24th Festival in Saint Petersburg. In the same year Hasmik Torosyan has enriched her repertoire with one more challenging role: Reine Elisabeth in Le songe d’une nuit d’été by A.Thomas in Wexford Opera Festival (Ireland).

In 2022 she performed in Armenian National Opera House (as Violetta in La Traviata), than she performed role of Sofia in Il signor Bruschino by Rossini in Teatro Comunale di Bologna. In the same year she made her successful debut in the marvelous and historical Theatre Colón in Buenos Aires (as Leila in Les pêcheurs de perles).

Among future engagements: Rigoletto in Tokyo NNTT ecc.
